About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Accounts Payable professional who is looking to expand their skill set by gaining hands-on exposure to a system implementation project, while remaining closely involved in core Accounts Payable operations. This fixed-term contract will commence with an initial four-week period providing Accounts Payable parental leave cover, followed by a five-month project phase supporting the implementation of a new Accounts Payable automation system, Esker.
During the parental leave coverage period, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the day-to-day Accounts Payable function, ensuring continuity, accuracy, and timely processing. The role will then transition into a system implementation support role, working closely with the Finance team, internal stakeholders, and the software provider to assist with the build, configuration, testing, and rollout of Esker across the business.
Your key responsibilities:
- Process supplier invoices and credit notes accurately and in a timely manner.
- Perform supplier statement reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor the Accounts Payable inbox and respond to vendor and internal queries professionally.
- Prepare end-of-month reports.
- Maintain accurate records and filing systems to support audit and compliance requirements.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and relevant accounting standards.
- Provide general Accounts support to the Chief Financial Officer and Financial Controller.
- Assist with the implementation of the Esker Accounts Payable system, including system build support, configuration assistance, and workflow setup.
- Participate in system and user acceptance testing, validating invoice processing workflows and identifying issues.
- Support data review, cleansing, and migration activities as required.
- Document processes, testing outcomes, and system changes to support implementation and handover.
- Assist with identifying process improvements and efficiencies within the Accounts Payable function.
- Provide post-implementation support to ensure system stability and user adoption.
Our Ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of two years’ experience in an Accounts Payable role, preferably within a manufacturing or agricultural environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Confidence working with finance systems and a willingness to learn and support the implementation of new technology and processes.
- An interest in systems implementation, process improvement, and automation within an Accounts Payable environment.
- The ability to participate in system and workflow testing, identify issues, and provide clear, constructive feedback.
- Strong documentation skills to support system build, testing, and handover activities.
- A proactive, adaptable approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively through change.
